tartan jacket and gold buttons

tartan jacket, velvet burgundy shirt, topshop jeans - charity shop, hat - primark, gold creepers - new look

I think everyone's partial to a bit of tartan this season, and I've been on the hunt for a tartan jacket for a few months now. I can't count how many times I've seen a tartan sleeve sticking out of a clothes rail before rushing over and realising that, once again, it wasn't my size. So I was overjoyed to find this one on Thursday for just £4 at Emmaus

This weekend I've mostly been watching Parks and Recreation (I started watching it yesterday and I'm already at the end of Season 2), reading We Need To Talk About Kevin and drinking a bit of wine after a road trip to Banbury for a friend's birthday. What have you been up to?

floral shirt and sparkle shorts plus haul video

shirt - gift, bike shorts - evil twin via asos, cardigan - topshop, boots - doc martens, fishnet tights, earrings - primark, necklace - delilah dust

This is what I wore yesterday to do a spot of charity shopping on my day off. The shirt was given to me by a lady at work who said it was collecting dust in her wardrobe as she didn't wear it anymore. The shorts are really sparkly, I wish I had got a better photo of them but I didn't think they were actually showing in the outfit!

As promised - below is my first venture into the word of youtube.

I didn't have time to edit anything on the video as I was going out. It then took about 10 hours to upload - is there any way of getting around this?! Let me know if you'd like to see more videos! This is my channel if you'd like to subscribe - thekittenswhiskersxo

Have a good week.

cat print shirt and snakeskin trousers

shirt - charity shop, top (worn as collar) - wallpaper rose, trousers, ankh earrings - matalan, cardigan - topshop, ring - vintage, shoes - dr martens

One new item and one old item. I got the snakeskin trousers from Matalan years ago. I remember spotting them on SaraLuxe and going straight online to order them for myself. Since then, however, they've had minimal wear as they tend to be an item I just forget I own. A recent wardrobe clearout has put them to the front of my wardrobe, so I've been looking for things to pair with them.

The cat print shirt was found by my friend in a recent charity shopping session. Luckily, she didn't want it for herself so now it's mine! If there could ever be a bad point to a cat print shirt it's that it's actually collarless - but that just means I can put my favourite collars underneath, like this one! It even came with a little cat print scarf which I've used as both a belt and a headscarf so far.

The Salvation Army near me is closing down for two weeks because they're getting new flooring, so they were selling everything on the shop floor for £1 on Friday. I spent six whole pounds. I even got a scarf that looks like a badger. I think I'm going to do a haul video soon!

everybody's somebody's fool

shirt, tie dye socks - diy, high waisted shorts - topshop (gift), shoes - doc martens, earrings - primark

This is the outfit that I wore to the carboot I wrote about in my last post. It seems like ages ago now, but I've been spreading out the outfit posts because I now don't have a tripod to use. This is the last lot of outfit photos I have so fingers crossed I have a new tripod soon! Else I might have to resort to having to pose in front of an actual person instead of a camera on a stick - the horror!

I tie dyed these socks a while ago then realised that they were much easier to wear when they were cream. But I've worn them with one outfit now, so it's fine! I don't wear shorts very often any more, but I really like the fit of these Topshop ones. My housemate gave me them as they were too big for her. Free Topshop shorts - score!

Hopefully I will be back soon with a more up-to-date outfit including my new glasses. It feels wrong posting an outfit post featuring bare legs when there's a huge storm outside!

awake my soul

dress, belt - charity shop, socks - topshop, shoes - doc martens, hamsa hand necklace - delilah dust

Ok, I may look a bit wonky in my next few outfit posts because my tripod has gone and broke. It's slightly leaning at one angle - I've not just suddenly got a weight in my right arm or anything. I'm sending it back this week so I'll hopefully get a replacement sometime soon!

In the distant memory that was last week, I was actually able to venture outside without tights! No chance of that so far this week though...I got this dress a couple of weeks ago as a payday treat (like I needed that excuse). Burgundy is my favourite colour so I made a beeline for the sleeve sticking out of the rack as soon as I saw it, and it turned out to be my size. I love it when a plan comes together! I don't think I've shown my Doc Marten shoes on the blog yet but I've been wearing them loads since I've bought them.

After seeing posts on blogs such as LulutrixabelleFox and Feather and Waiste about car boot-ing bargains, I decided I was actually going to make it one this weekend (I usually decide to go and at the same time the  weather decides to rain). So I dragged my mum to one on Sunday and got a load of bargains. I spent £6.50 and got two cardigans, a jumper, a waistcoat, a jacket, a dress, a bag, a pair of boots and some jewellery. Not bad!

Have a good week!

you, earth or ash

sheer top, backpack - charity shop, floral bralet - topshop, skirt - charity shop/ diy, creepers - pj shoes, earrings - gift

I wore this outfit to hang out in London on Saturday (I know - a bit late, but I never seem to have the time to take photos and make a post so inevitably all my outfit posts are at least 2 days behind when i actually wore the outfit!) I've had this Topshop bralet for ages but never really worn it. When bralets became popular as outerwear, I struggled to find a way to wear it that wasn't too revealing, and this is my first attempt!

The earrings were a gift from my uncle many years ago - I think he got them for me when I first got my ears pierced at 13/ 14. Back then all I wanted to wear was gold and silver hoops, so I gave them to my mum. Luckily she kept them safe for me because 10 years later I love them! Don't they go perfectly with the bralet, too?

I've now found a reason not to buy fake creepers. Mine have already split on the bottom of both shoes! I'm going to have to dig out the receipt to take them back and maybe save up for an actual real pair. Sigh.

can we dance upon the tables again?

dip dye/ ombre shirt - diy, body chain - topshop, skirt - pinched from my housemate's wardrobe, boots - doc martens

Quick quick quick post, I'm going to Nandos in  a minute! I wore this outfit to work yesterday. The top is actually dip dyed lilacy-pink but it doesn't show up too well here. I had a bit of an issue which is that my Tescos delivery turned up late, I didn't have enough salt for the dye because of this but went ahead and did it anyway because I'm impatient. The lack of salt meant the dye didn't stick to the top properly. And it rained yesterday. Fill in the gaps.
I'm off to fill my belly with chicken!

PS The title comes from the first song that will be released from Bat For Lashes new album. I saw them live a few weeks ago and they were amazing. Listen to/ watch 'Laura' below!
