I can't eat burgers anymore (well the cheese and bun part anyway) so what better way to reminisce about hungover Sundays in a greasy Wetherspoons than by putting a Man vs Food worthy burger on a t-shirt?! When I picked the tee up from the rail I did briefly think 'sometimes I wonder about my taste in clothes' before realising that obviously, I couldn't live without owning this t-shirt (the fact that it was £1.50 may have helped with this decision).

You may have noticed that my choice of headwear has changed. This is my new new favourite hat. I finally managed to pry my Primark one off my head when I found this one. It has a smiley face, a bobble and it's from Oxfam. Today, as soon as it hit 5 o'clock I jammed the hat on my head and declared 'the hat's on; so it's playtime not worktime' and proceeded to decorate my desk with snow (cotton wool).

My bag collection seems to be ever expanding recently. I wasn't sure whether to buy this one but the woman in the charity shop convinced me that I needed it and I'm glad she did, actually. Not even just because people keep mistaking it for a cat.

Last week I felt I was distinctly lacking in skirts as I usually wear dresses and trousers, so a charity shopping trip was in order! This skirt was (one of) the result(s). I always buy maxi/ midi skirts and then end up not wearing them, but I'm determined to persevere with this one as it fits so well. And it's fun to twirl around in. The only I problem I have in winter is I never know what to wear with midi skirts to keep warm. As soon as I put a jumper or cardigan over the top, it looks frumpy, and all my coats seem to be the wrong length to wear with it. Any suggestions?

On Saturday, I headed to Birmingham for Clothes Show Live. I'd never been before so wasn't sure what to expect but I had a really enjoyable day. I went on behalf of Oxfam, so I spent the majority of my day wandering around the various vintage and second hand stalls, which suited me just fine! I also met Rosie who was hard at work on the Mr Shoes stall!

I still haven't quite decided if this top is ugly-cool or just ugly. But it was 50p, so it has a place in my wardrobe regardless. The cut of it reminds me of the American Apparel turtlenecks, only not cropped (no one likes a chilly tummy).

This fur coat is literally the cosiest thing ever! I was outside in the freezing cold for an hour yesterday, and ended up having to take a layer off because my coat made me so warm! I found it in a charity shop last month for only £5.99. It was priced so cheaply because a fastening was missing, but I later found it in one of the pockets. Not that I have bothered sewing it back on or anything.

Anyone else had any bargainous finds recently?

You know when you get a new item in your wardrobe and you just want to plan every outfit so that it goes with it? That's what I've been doing with these new boots I got from ASOS the other week. I was actually looking for a pair of black chelsea boots, but when I saw these I just couldn't resist! They go with a surprising amount of outfits too, considering their pattern/ colours.

I picked up a new army jacket in a charity shop a few weeks back because I liked the subtle pattern on this one better than my old one. The only downside is the lack of pockets, but I can live with that (fashion over function?!) I actually wore this outfit today to do some more charity shopping as I have the day off. It was meant to be christmas shopping, but I only bought things for myself. I think I deserved them after my seven day week though. There's always a way to justify shopping for yourself...

soap and glory: beauty review

Soap and Glory: Archery brow tint and precision shaping pencil in 'Brownie Points', £10 and Supercat liquid eyeliner pen, £6 

I don't usually do beauty/ make up reviews, as I tend to stick to the same routine and same make up, whether for the day or the evening. However, I picked up a couple of products last week that I was pretty impressed with, so thought I'd share!

I've been looking for a new eyebrow pencil for a while now. I used to dye my hair really dark, but over the past year or so I've let it fade. However I carried on using the same eyebrow pencil, and recently I've been thinking that it looks a little too dark for my hair (not to mention it smudged really easily). When I tested the Archery brow tint and precision shaping pencil, I thought it was far too light, but as this was the darkest shade and there was an offer on in Boots, I decided to give it a try anyway. I was pleasantly surprised! One end is like a felt tip, which gives you the main colour. Although the colour is subtle, it builds up to a darker shade than you would expect. The other end is like a pencil liner and is used for creating the shape and to build up more colour. Due to having a full time job, the main thing I look for when it comes to make up is how quickly it is to apply in the mornings and durability throughout the day. This ticks the boxes for both!

The Supercat liquid eyeliner pen is one I've wanted to try for a while, but has always been sold out when I've gone to buy it. I gave up wearing liquid eyeliner a few years ago because I have watery eyes, and my eyeliner disappeared within half an hour! Instead, I moved onto gel eyeliner, which has always stayed put. The Supercat eyeliner lasts just as long as my gel eyeliner - the real test was Friday, where it lasted from 7.30am until 4am! It's not quite as dark as my usual gel eyeliner, but it's definitely great for everyday wear and quicker to put on in the morning before work. I think for nights out I will still be using my Maybelline gel liner, but I will be repurchasing this for everyday wear.

Another recent jumble sale find (are you bored of them yet?). When I first got home and tried this dress on I thought it was destined to my charity shop/ eBay pile. However, after a few alterations I now love it! I shortened the hemline, which was originally just below the knee, and then took it in as it was originally a size 14. I've never taken in a dress before and mainly (completely) used guesswork but I think it's turned out OK! 

I've been loving the fur stoles everyone's been wearing recently and wanting one of my own, when I realised that I already had one attached to my winter coat. Handy!

I was overjoyed when I spotted these House of Holland tights brand new in box in my local Barnados for just £1.99, especially as I had been lusting over them full price the week before. I decided to wear them in the day rather than on a night out to minimise laddering risk. Yep, they laddered. After about an hour. (Luckily only on the toes).

The bag and jumper are both recent jumble sale buys, costing around 50p and 30p each. I've been trying to stock up on winter knits to layer over dresses now it's got a bit colder. The bag is a new favourite - it's the perfect size to fit in the essentials (including an umbrella!) plus a bit of shopping. I actually bought it for someone at work who had said the day before that they wanted a carpet bag. Turns out this wasn't what she was looking for - her loss, my gain!

I'm going to be honest, I didn't actually wear the floral crown into the office on Friday. But I did prance around in it in front of the mirror until it was time to leave the house (and then worriedly felt my head halfway to work when I didn't remember taking it off). I actually made it as part of my Halloween outfit. If you want to make your own, check out the tutorial I did for the Oxfam blog.

One good thing about this weather is it's now cold enough to bring back the cat jumper! Meow.

A 100% thrifted outfit! I found these trousers in a charity shop a couple of weeks ago. They fit me perfectly (that's what I'm trying to show in the third photo with the weird pose, if you're wondering...!) and they make a nice alternative to my riding pants! They were only £2.50 and came with the belt too. I might actually bother to iron them before I next wear them (but I probably won't).

Me and my housemate have been hitting up a lot of jumble sales recently. They're even cheaper than charity shops and car boot sales! The ones we've been to in the last two weeks have been 3 items for £1. Amazing! I've been taking advantage of them and stocking up my winter wardrobe with some chunky knits. If you have any happening near you I'd definitely recommend going!
